E-mail has changed my postcard mailing habits. I remember the way it used to be - the charm of so so far away. Hunting for just the right picture. Revolving displays. "Wish you were here," really meant "I'm here! Look at this picture! That's where I
am!" At some point I stopped sending postcards. But Antartica roused the old postcard thrill. Second only to mailing from the moon. I sent 20 postcards. Mailed them from the Brazilian station. I stamped them with the official Antartica postmark myself. One fellow traveller saw my pile and asked if I wanted to write his postcards too.
It seemed important to get a shot of me holding my completed postcards prior to sending off on their journey. As for the penguin shot - I like to think of that as the postoffice. Of course it's not.

NOTE: 3 weeks later the postcards have NOT arrived.
